The natural mattresses are made from high-quality natural fibers with a core of natural latex. The “climate belt” made of virgin sheep’s wool and horsehair ensures moisture absorption and the absorption of water vapor.

Because our products are handmade in our workshop, we can also provide you with all kinds of custom sizes and special orders. The delivery time for a natural mattress, latex mattress, or futon mattress is typically between 10 and 14 days.

Futon Mattress
As everyone knows by now, the term “futon” comes from Japan and refers to the traditional Japanese sleeping mat, which is filled with cotton and is laid out on the floor (traditionally on tatami / rice-straw mats) only at bedtime. During the day, the futon is folded up and stored in a closet.
Traditional Japanese futons are quite thin (about 8 cm), so you can feel the floor when you lie down on them. That’s why, when they find them too hard, the Japanese often stack several futons on top of each other. Since the cotton in a futon tends to compress and harden significantly, sleeping on futons has always been a bit of a challenge.
The futon was introduced to Europe as part of a fashion trend in the 1980s. However, the futon trend did not come to us from Japan, but rather via the United States and England, and it brought us not Japanese futons, but versions adapted to Western tastes. Although these “Western” futons—which were also filled with cotton—were significantly thicker than the originals, many people still found them too hard over time.
In response, futons were soon filled with latex cores and/or layers of horsehair, so that the futon eventually became the “futon mattress” and, later, the “natural mattress.”
We took a different approach and kept the futons close to the Japanese original—at least in terms of appearance and sleeping comfort—though we, too, modified the construction. By using a thin layer of latex encased in horsehair and virgin wool, we developed the “Japanese-style futon,” which ensures that the sleeping comfort remains largely consistent over time.
